17.03.2021 16:43

In December 2020, the RUK network published an open call for the co-production of innovative projects connecting intermedia arts with technology and business.

We are pleased to announce that four projects have been selected. The applicants will develop them in 2021 within our existing laboratories DDTlab, KIBLA2LAB, and PiNALAB and in cooperation with individual companies.

Srečo Dragan x DDTlab

Srečo Dragan is a video and new media artist. Between 1967 and 1988, he was active in tandem with Ana Nuša Dragan, with whom he recorded the first video in the former Yugoslavia in 1969. Further on, they were also members of the OHO movement. After that, Dragan continued to explore the possibilities offered by the new media independently. From 1987 until his retirement in 2014, he taught aesthetics and video art technology at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. In 2007 he received the Jakopič Award for the introduction and achievements in the field of new electronic media in fine arts. In 2017/18, his retrospective exhibition was on view at +MSUM.

Robertina Šebjanič x PiNAlab

Robertina Šebjanič is an internationally awarded intermedia artist who deals with the establishment of relations between the humanities and natural sciences and technology. Her research in recent years has focused on living systems, AV performances and sound arts, and the setting up of interactive ambient responsive environments. In her work, she is actively engaged in researching the impacts of anthropological and technological activities on marine and aquatic ecosystems.

BridA x PiNAlab

BridA/Tom Kerševan, Sendi Mango, Jurij Pavlica work and research emerging technologies, social responses to them, and artistic treatment of emerging issues. Members of the BridA collective present their work, which combines science and digital technology, in interactive multimedia installations. In recent years, they have received multiple awards and exhibited at festivals and exhibitions that address current topics.

Valerie Wolf Gang x KIBLA2LAB

Valerie Wolf Gang is an intermedia artist working at the intersection of science and art. She is the recipient of numerous international nominations and awards. She is often a guest at symposia, where she lectures on transhumanism and the importance of developing and connecting the scientific and artistic sectors. Her work focuses primarily on aspects of consciousness and reflections of social conflicts arising from political regulations and constraints. She explores the relationship between humans and technology and is inspired by the connection between animate and inanimate nature and the human character's multifaceted nature.
