Cultural Management Education

30.04.2021 15:26

Education is one of the key pillars of our project, which is implemented by promoting and finding intersections between the arts, science, and the economy. Through various forms and content of education, we want to expand our understanding in the field of intermedia art and raise people's awareness of the importance of creative processes for the development of humane digitization of the future.

In the last year, the PiNA team has devoted its attention to the design of cultural management education. By doing so, we want to transfer knowledge of project planning and management of events, shows, exhibitions, festivals, and other cultural events to people of culture, humanists, students, and those merely interested in culture.

Why is education performance needed?

The cultural space is vibrant and diverse from the point of view of production. Over the years, it has been shown that it lacks more knowledge about project management, finance management, and funding opportunities. Through a series of educations, we aim to fill this gap created in the broader space of culture, especially for young people at the beginning of their cultural journey.

From planning to implementation in practice

Through education, participants learn about two important aspects of cultural management. The first is focused on project planning, from the idea to the implementation of the project, the steps of planning, and the second to the specifics of project planning within the cultural field. At the same time, participants also learn about the broader context of culture and how it is placed in society, the legal aspects of cultural management and the forms with which we can carry out cultural activities, and the funding opportunities that exist in the field of culture.

In this way, they acquire project planning competencies and, on the other hand, know the specifics of the organization of projects in the field of culture to prepare, by the end of the training, an action plan for the activity they wish to develop in the future.

How are educational activities performed?

The implementation of educational activities takes place online due to the current epidemiological situation in cooperation with various stakeholders on the field.

We are delighted to have teamed up with all four career centers (the University of Maribor, the University of Ljubljana, the University of Primorska, and the University of Nova Gorica), with a few higher education institutions working in the field of culture and with the Public Fund for Cultural Activities, with which we will carry out education in their regional committees.
